THANKSGIVING INTERCESSION

II Thess. 2:13
“But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

II Thess. 1:3
“We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;”

Intercession is standing in the gap or seeking the face of God for a land, a soul, a nation, a kingdom, or a situation, according to Ezekiel 22:30.

Ezek. 22:30
“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”

Predominantly, we have been taught how to pray on behalf of someone or a situation, but we have not been taught how to present thanksgiving like Paul. We have been taught the efficacies of prayer,

James 5:16-17
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.”

Truth be told, the fervent prayer of the righteous avails so much. Elijah was a man of like passion as we are; he raised the nation of Israel before God, and there was divine intervention, but most often, we forget to go back to God to appreciate Him for the prayers raised. We turn God into a cash-out machine. The Bible says praise is comely for the righteous.

“Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.” (Psalm 33:1)

Maybe this is the reason why our request takes a long route because we didn’t dial the hotline – THANKSGIVING.

It’s time as intercessors to be intentional in raising thanksgiving for souls or situations, especially when we perceive the answer has been released!

It is good that we know that whatever we thank God for is preserved, perfected, and increased.

The Act of Thanksgiving Intercession is standing in the gap to worship God for His faithfulness, His love, and His enduring mercy toward the people we are presenting to God. No matter how bad the situation is, there are still so many reasons to thank God for not making it worse.

How do we do this?

  • As an intercessor, set aside a day to worship, praise, and thank God for that soul, that land, that nation.
  • Ensure you list, mention, and recount all God has done.
  • Present your supplication through thanksgivings.

Do these and see the miracles that follow. Selah!
